Despite three years of promises to protect Ontarios threatened woodland caribou, the McGuinty government is proposing to exempt logging, mining and other industries from having to take action to protect caribou under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
This means that woodland caribou “ which is listed as threatened in Ontario “ will have no legal protection under the very law that was designed to save it.
This will push caribou one step closer to extinction.
Through the 2010 Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, forestry companies and environmental groups have committed to developing plans to protect caribou. This exemption shows that the McGuinty government is not committed to being part of the solution.
We dont think that the forest industry should shut down, but we do believe that it should be required to do something substantial to protect caribou. This exemption says they dont have to.
In 2007, Premier McGuinty made an election promise to protect woodland caribou. Since then, his government has taken no concrete, on the ground action.
Please ask Premier McGuinty to scrap his governments proposed exemption and to protect caribou and the Boreal Forest before its too late.
The McGuinty government is on a countdown to the next election. Let̢۪s not allow this exemption to be a countdown to caribou extinction!
3 Glorious Days Left Of My 20's
Alright, I am in crisis mode, i am afraid of 30. Although people are saying the 30 is the new 20 but I am scared. I was trying to complete my list of things I wanted to have done and it dawned on me, "who am i kidding?" Well although i accomplished them all but the new career, I think I know where it is that I want to go and who I wants to be.
30, my twenties are gone... I noticed the other day that I am sporting a few grey hairs and some crows feet, I chalk it up to being someone who likes to have fun and my wild life has done this to me. I have invested in a few cosmetic brands that say it will "make your lines disappear" again... "who am I kidding?" Jeepers creepers some just direct me to the fountain of youth!
I think my biological clock is ticking, I am starting to think about children, Something I have never wanted in my life, now I am wondering if I should have them? Do I want to be alone for the rest of my life? Clearly I will never get married, but that's OK in today's times isn't it? To have a child without a partner? Artificial insemination? OMG my brain is racing.. I have three days to decide what the hell I have planned for the next 10 years, I am sure if I enjoy Blogging in 10 years you all will see another Blog about the fact that I have no kids, am alone and have even more hideous wrinkles.
